Thrasher Coffee started like many other good ideas: as a hobby. A couple of guys at work were tired of office coffee. Personal experience showed freshly roasted coffee tasted far superior to anything found in the local supermarkets and coffee shops. So we began experimenting with roasters, a variety of green beans, burr grinders, and French presses. We refined our choice of beans and our roasting techniques, and in 2014, established the Thrasher Coffee Company to share our small batch craft coffee with the world.
You see, here at Thrasher, we don’t roast ‘til you order. We don’t have warehouses full of pre-roasted, pre-packaged beans shriveling up waiting on an order. When we receive your order, we start roasting your beans, hand stamp them with the date – and ship them immediately to ensure you’ll always have a freshly roasted cup at hand.
The other great thing about Thrasher Coffee is that each bag is a full 16-ounce pound. Most coffee companies start with 16 ounces of beans, but after roasting, all you get is 12 ounces. We think a pound should mean a pound, so we build that into the roasting process to give you more bean for the buck.
The Brown Thrasher is the state bird of Georgia, which also happens to be where Thrasher Coffee is located – in the hills and dales of Paulding County, about 45 minutes from the bustle of Atlanta.
We’re proud to model ourselves after this bird – an aggressive defender of its nest, but also one of the most accomplished songsters which may sing more than 1,100 different song types, including imitations of other birds. Family-oriented and fun-loving — It’s a good life balance we can relate to.
